Spring Clean

As the seasons change the food that we crave starts to change as well. As the weather gets warmer our food choices become lighter and tend to have more colour.  Research suggests that basing our diets on a spring, summer, fall and winter rotation relying on the foods harvested during each season, can help to keep the body in balance.

We can however also use season rotation as a perfect time to give the body a reboot or cleanse.

Start Fresh

To provide our bodies with a cleanse we are required to focus on the liver. Our liver is the organ that is responsible for the body's ability to detox naturally. This process starts with the cleansing of our blood by removing impurities from the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. Detoxification also enhances the body's natural cleansing process by:

  • Resting the organs through fasting;

  • Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;

  • Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys, and skin;

  • Improving circulation of the blood;

  • Refuelling the body with healthy nutrients

Spring clean for female health

Our liver itself does not make hormones, but it plays a significant role in maintaining hormone balance because it acts as a processor, simultaneously manufacturing, regulating and directing various hormones to carry out their functions around the body. If your body experiences a hormone excess, either from internally produced hormones or external sources the liver may not be able to process hormones as quickly or efficiently.

This can cause hormonal imbalance.

Other symptoms women tend to experience the most like fatigue, abdominal pain and bloating are further signs you may need an internal spring clean.
