Live well on a budget

Our current economy in the UK is having a negative impact on household budgets in one way or the other, as we are all being challenged to re-look at our financial responsibilities and potentially scale back.

The issue is when we do decide to scale back, our own health and well-being can end up being sacrificed because we stress about money and or because the health products we buy to support our health and well-being are marketed at higher price brackets.

The good news is there are some simple ways we can continue to live well on a budget. Times like this pose an opportunity for us to become more creative and start to really explore what it means to be healthy.

We can often be too busy to show up for ourselves when we need time to reset. Something as simple as being still for 5 minutes and taking 3-4 deep breaths can place your body in a state of calmness.

If having a hot bath is deemed a luxury you can make an effort for that luxury once a week, if you like candles light them in the evening at home to help create a peaceful more relaxed atmosphere, and when traveling listen to podcasts or audiobooks so your mind is getting its own downtime and is not overworking, and sipping a cup of herbal tea as soon as you get in from a busy day can take the edge off. These are all ways you can support you can live well with very few costs associated.

Movement is also a great way to help the body unwind. By this I mean your more gentle forms of exercise, like walking, Yoga, Pilates, and even swimming. As they are all great for helping the body release stress as well as keeping you fit physically, mentally and emotionally. Exercises such as Yoga/Pilates can all be done using YouTube or downloading certain Apps.

Over the next few weeks try and find new cost-effective ways to keep your well-being in check using now as a great time to re-evaluate what being living well really means to you.
