As the weather starts to get colder if you like your hot drinks, especially tea you'll probably find that you will be drinking a lot more cuppas. While black tea is known to have many benefits such as being rich in antioxidants, lowering cholesterol, and ability to improve gut health. Herbal teas such as Green tea, Chamomile, Ginger, and Liquorice are also just as good for us.


Herbal teas are made up of a range of herbs, flowers, seeds, and roots from plants. They are free from caffeine with the exception of Green tea and were first used back in ancient Egypt and China based on their medicinal properties.


Why should we drink herbal tea?

Aside from the fact it is caffeine free and can also contribute to your daily water intake. The various herbs used in herbal teas can support many health challenges we may have whether physical, mental and or emotional. Here are some popular herbal teas for you to try and some of the benefits we may get from drinking them:

  1. Chamomile - Mostly known to relax the body and can reduce internal inflammation and treat stomach pain.

  2. Peppermint - Mostly known to support stress relief and aid with digestion.

  3. Rosehip - Mostly known to support the immune system as it is a great source of vitamin C and antioxidants.

  4. Ginger - Mostly known to ease an upset stomach and nausea. Great for lowering blood sugar.

  5. Lemongrass - Mostly known to relieve aches and pain, anxiety, and lower blood pressure.

  6. Licorice - Mostly known to treat stomach pain and coughs.

  7. Raspberry Leaf - Mostly known to support the female reproductive system, in particular by reducing PMS cramps, inducing labour, and easing the transition of menopause.
