At this time of year, most of us are probably out socialising. Most of the socialising involves food and/or alcohol which means some of us are eating more than our usual calorie intake.
We all need to let our hair down and have fun more often than we do, how do we balance having fun that involves having counter-productive effects on our health goals?
The biggest challenge we have is when the weight starts to creep on, so I want to share with you some tips to stop you from putting on an excessive amount of weight.
Intermittent fasting – you may do this already if you don’t it is an excellent way to control your calorie intake as you eat during a certain window of time such as from 12 pm – 8 pm the rest of the time you are fasting.
Drink water – Yes you hear this all the time but drinking more water helps to keep you feeling full.
Reduce your Carbs – If you are eating out let your meal out be your full carb meal, and all other foods should be high protein so you are only consuming x1 carb meal per day.
Reduce your fats – So while good fats are good for us, they are also calorie heavy and therefore they can contribute to your eating excess of calories.
Do more cardio – I know the weather may not encourage us to leave the house. So, a 10-minute home workout can help keep the calories off. If you don’t mind leaving the house extra cardio at the gym, a walk or run will support you.
Reduce the indulgence- Instead of ordering 3 courses order 2 instead so you are eating less.
These are all great, simple ways you can help to reduce the amount of weight you put on over the holiday season.
